Dr. Wolfgang Baums Appointed Deputy Chief Investment Officer of FERI AG

Bad Homburg, 6/23/2026
by FERI
  • FERI Expands Leadership of Its Investment Division Following the CEO Transition
  • New Deputy CIO Works Closely with New CEO and CIO Dr. Marcel V. Lähn
  • Strengthening the Alternative Investments Offering Is a Key Focus

Asset manager FERI AG is strengthening its decision-making structures: Dr. Wolfgang Baums will assume the newly created position of Deputy Chief Investment Officer (Deputy CIO) effective July 1. In this role, he will support Dr. Marcel V. Lähn—who, starting July 1, 2026, will serve as the new Chairman of the Executive Board and hold the dual role of CEO and CIO of FERI AG—in the strategic development of the investment division.

“With the appointment of Dr. Wolfgang Baums as Deputy CIO, we are consistently pursuing our long-term strategy,” says Dr. Marcel V. Lähn, designated Chairman of the Executive Board and CIO of FERI AG. “Since joining FERI, Wolfgang Baums has made a significant contribution to the expansion of our investment office and the optimization of our investment approach. Now we will work even more closely together in managing our global multi-asset strategy and continue to drive forward the integration of alternative investments.” According to Lähn, these asset classes are becoming increasingly important. “That is why we are pleased to have a proven private markets expert as Deputy CIO.”

“At FERI, our goal is to grow the assets entrusted to us in a risk-adjusted and forward-looking manner. We consider private markets to be a core component of modern asset allocation,” says Dr. Wolfgang Baums. “Together with Dr. Lähn and the entire investment team, we will continue on our current course and drive forward FERI’s investment strategy—which spans nine asset classes—in the best interests of our clients.”

Baums has been with FERI for just under three years. Working alongside Carsten Hermann, Executive Managing Director of Investment Management, Dr. Wolfgang Baums continues to serve as Executive Managing Director of the Investment Office, overseeing the further development of FERI AG’s global multi-asset strategy as well as the consolidation and integration of investment research and asset management. The 48-year-old, who holds a doctorate and a degree in business administration, has many years of experience in leadership positions within the financial sector, including as Managing Director of Asset Management at ODDO BHF and as Head of Products & Services at BNP Paribas Private Wealth Management.
