The competition for global leadership in AI is in full swing and is developing extremely dynamically. The US dominance of language models is still unchallenged.
However, the impressive race to catch up by Chinese start-up DeepSeek shows that this can change extremely quickly. In less than twelve months, the outsider has made it into the top three language models worldwide. By contrast, Europe's language model Mistral AI from France is clearly lagging behind (see chart).
The path to global AI supremacy will remain fiercely contested in the future; after all, AI technology is considered “existential” for the two superpower rivals USA and China.
In two specific analyses, the FERI Cognitive Finance Institute examines the transformative force that can be expected from the AI megatrend in the future and how massively the tech giants Google, Amazon, Apple and Meta will continue to expand their digital power under Trump 2.0.
