FERI Continues to Grow: Assets under Management Exceed 39 Billion Euros

Bad Homburg, 03/12/2020
from FERI AG
  • Total revenues increase by 10 percent to EUR 166.5 million (IFRS)
  • Group assets under management at 39.2 billion euros
  • Alternative investments reach new record level with 8.5 billion euros
  • Great potential for thematic investments such as sustainability

The Bad Homburg-based investment house FERI has continued on its growth path and in 2019 increased its results in the most important core business areas for the sixth time in a row. The assets under management in the group network with MLP rose from 34.5 to 39.2 billion euro compared to the previous year. Total revenues increased in 2019 by almost 10 percent to EUR 166.5 million (IFRS figures). This growth was mainly driven by the alternative sector and the strong development of FERI's own investment solutions and concepts.

FERI was able to win new mandates and expand existing business relationships with both private and institutional clients during the reporting period. "We have thus further expanded our position as one of the largest providers of investment management and consulting services in combination with independent research in the German-speaking region," said Marcel Renné, Chairman of the Executive Board of FERI AG, at the annual press conference in Frankfurt. The FERI subsidiaries in Germany, Luxembourg and Switzerland have also developed successfully. In total, FERI serves 300 private assets (families) as well as 200 institutional clients.

Strong Demand for Alternative Investments and Sustainability

FERI recorded sustained strong demand in the alternative investments sector. This rose from EUR 8.0 billion to EUR 8.5 billion in the year under review, with the highest growth rates in investment solutions with volatility strategies and private equity.

"We also see a growing interest in sustainability among our clients. Therefore, we have significantly expanded our activities in this area and established our own competence centre with the 'FERI SDG Office' last year", says Marcel Renné. The SDG Office coordinates all sustainability activities of FERI and develops special consulting concepts and investment solutions. The focus is on the 17 sustainability goals of the United Nations (Sustainable Development Goals, SDG) - and not, as with many other market participants, the ESG criteria. "In our sustainability system, we thus consciously go beyond the familiar approaches in the market," emphasizes Renné.

Successful Investment Solutions

FERI's investment solutions have significantly increased in size over the past year and have all convinced investors with a stable double-digit performance. The company has thus further strengthened its position as a solution provider with tailor-made products that are not available elsewhere on the market in this form. The most successful concepts included volatility strategies such as "OptoFlex" and "EquityFlex", as well as the "Global Quality" and "FS Exponential Technologies" theme funds managed by FERI (Switzerland).

Economic and Capital Market Research Driven Forward

The FERI Cognitive Finance Institute has been intensively involved in the analysis of global megatrends for some time now, and in the year under review further increased its reputation as a strategic research centre and creative think tank. In 2019, the institute published highly regarded studies, including on structural change in the automotive industry and on the topic of impact investing.

"In the past financial year, FERI continued to push ahead with its strategic development," said Marcel Renné. As part of the digitalization strategy, numerous internal processes, such as portfolio management, have been further optimized. "Our company will continue to focus on steady growth and the expansion of the range of services in all business areas in the future," said Marcel Renné.
